Back home after 2 weeks of medical work in Chiapas, Mexico

I'm back from a two week trip to the state of Chiapas, Mexico.  I travelled there with a few other family medicine doctors to work in Hospital San Carlos in the small town of Altamirano.  We managed adult and pediatric patients' medical conditions, as well as delivered a few babies along with the young doctors there.  It was truly an amazing experience, and I hope to share some stories and photos from the trip in subsequent posts on this site.

In the meantime, I encourage you to read some of the diaries written by a whole host of folks on this site, comment on them, or even write your own diaries.

Every day in Chiapas, we took siestas (afternoon naps) for an hour or two during our long days of work.  Since I'm now back in the US and we don't do siestas, I'm especially tired tonight.  Gnite!

I definitely look forward to hearing about your experience Anjalis!  I wonder how successful the workplace would be here in the US if there was time for siestas of any length.  Have any studies been done regarding the positive health implications of taking a siesta?

About
"Health is Dignity and Dignity is Resistance"

What is health justice? How are health & human rights fiercely connected to the wellness of our neighborhoods? How do we reframe policy debates? How do we continue dreaming and building instead of just reacting & surviving? And how do we support each other in our healing?
